Beyond Appearance

I'll start with the standard. Who is in Beyond Appearance and what do they play?
Noel-bass & vocals, Mario-guitar & backing vocals, Ty-drums, Neil-guitar & backing vocals.

How long and how did you guys get together?
Well it started with myself and a dude by the name of JD getting together in my room and writing some music back in January 1999. It was like 90lb Wuss type stuff. Ty and i had been in bands together for years, so we asked him to drum for us. We picked up our friend noel to play bass, and later mario jumped in, too. So there were 5 of us. JD (who used to sing) left to play acoustic rock, so Noel picked up the lead vocals. Since then, JD and Mario have both been in and out several times, but now the line up is steady.

How would you describe your sound?
It's like a cross between Slick Shoes, Craig's Brother, and Metallica. Cliffy Huntington compared us to Too Bad Eugene, but i'm not too sure on that one. I'm thinking more like Ace Troubleshooter with heavier solos.

What are your goals with this band?
Our plan is very simple. We're using our blend of music to bring a Christ-centered message to as many people as we can. We've got the metal influence to reach the metal-heads, and the punk rock to reach the punks. It's that simple-we just want to show people the Way, the Truth, and the Light.

Do you have any releases out yet?
Not yet. We've going in right after Christmas to record our first album entitled "...the truth is out there..." This will be out sometime between spring and summer on Salad Dressing Records. You can watch our website for more info on that.

What was the first punk band you ever heard?
Rancid.

If you could play with any band who would they be and why?
Beyond Appearance...j/k(it's an inside joke from an interview with UNLEADED). Umm...i'd have to go with Too Bad Eugene. I love those guys, adam's the man, and andy rules.

I see your from Texas, what do you think of George W. Bush's chances?
Hahaha. I don't really get tied up with politics (i dunno if that's good or bad) but it looks to me like he's got a good chance.

What has God taught you since being in a band?
Man, God has taught me like everything since i've been in a band. Trust is one of the main ones. I wasn't truly saved until like a month before this band started, and it's a very Christ centered band...we don't even practice without praying first because we know we would be nowhere without Him. The biggest life lessons i've learned so far have come from this band.

What is Beyond Appearance's future plans?
Only God knows. We're just doing what we feel we're called to do.

Any parting comments?
Yeah, dude: This was great, thanks a lot. Good luck with the ezine. If there's anything else i can do to help you out, let me know.
