This is a nice 5-song demo CD from Nebraska hardcore band System Failure. I must say it does not look or sound like a demo. First of all, the packaging on this CD is very cool and professionally done. As for the content and sound, these guys are good! The band reminds me of Unashamed, Living Sacrifice, and a bit of P.O.D. I classify it as mostly slowed down original hardcore and metal. The first song called "Cry to Heaven" is the favorite track on the EP. The double bass and vocal work on this song are great. Also, the lyrics are powerful and point to the freedom in Christ. The next track "Due Penalty" keeps the theme of the misery a life without Christ encompasses. I love the ending and energy of that song! The next two songs, "Behold" and "Reflection", keep up the pace with some great guitar work and honest lyrics. Finally, the EP ends with "Flashback" a haunting unique song about death. I recommend this band to anyone. Be sure to check them out at listen.to/systemfailure
