Tribus "You Dance, We Shred" (Self)***

Are you looking for something totally unique to listen to? Well, look no further, and check out the instrumental sounds of Tribus. Honestly, this cd is out of the typical genres that I cover on this site, but then again the music on this disc cannot really be classified in a particular genre. The six songs on this record blend elements of Latin, dance, classical, and techno. The really unique thing is that the lead instrument is the bass guitar. It is very interesting music, and I must say that enjoy listening to it. However, after my first listen, I was puzzled of what to call this record. I decided on bass driven dance music, but I wanted to find out more so I emailed the man who sent it to me. I found out that Tribus is basically one man by the name of Carlos Soto. Carlos is blessed with amazing talent on the bass guitar. Here is some other things he said:

I am a Christian , my church is church of the harvest los angeles ca. you can watch the tv.broadcast sunday 4:30 west time on t.b.n. I have been playing bass for 15 years. I am 31 years old and I acknowledge my musical skills are a gift from the Lord cause I have no musical training or theory. so you were right when you said the music is interesting because to me it is. I got four cd's available the first one is tribus oreology was performed with a full band guitar, bass drums, percussion, flute, violin, horn section etc. it is very intense latin fusion. the second is tribus self tittle this one was performed by myself with bass, drum machine, keys. it has different styles. the third one is tribus religiously dangerous again performed by myself with bass, drum machine, keys. this one has a bass solo at the end. the fourth is tribus you dance, we shred again performed by myself with bass, drum machine, keys. and like you said it is bass driven funk, dance music. I play a six string bass and also a double neck four string bass.also I like to mix melodies and technics to create a balance. I guess what makes it unusual is that is music coming out of a bass, you know most instrumentals are guitar oriented. some of my previous cd's have been reviewed by hm magazine. and I just happy to share the music with everyone and let them know God is the source of creativity so it is the right thing to give Him the glory. I will be releasing another cd later this year. if you have any other question please let me know. until then enjoy His love and mercy. and keep rocking. carlos soto. clarkburchfield@aol.com
